Dear supporters of NBHA

We are excited to confirm that we will be hosting an event on the 5th October 2017 to mark 30 years of
#BlackHistoryMonth in the UK. The event is FREE for Members or £3 for non-members. Alternatively, Membership can be purchased on the evening for £5 for a year.

The event will take place
5th October 2017 at 6:30 pm
Jeffery Room
Doddridge Centre
Northampton

The evening will include a talk from local historian Kevin Lodge who will discuss the life of Thomas Bull who lived on the border of South Northamptonshire around 500 years ago. He was laid to rest in the village of Eydon in 1545. (We will resist sharing too much about Mr Bull so you can hear about him first hand from Kevin.)  If you are unable to attend the event you can read Kevin's research on Thomas Bull by purchasing a copy of Eydon Historical Research Groups recent publication titled ‘Geology, Generosity and Glimpses into Eydon's Past.’ There are also resources relating to Thomas Bull recorded on our website. Simply search ‘Thomas Bull’ in our online database. Kevin will be bringing some books along to the event so you may want to bring some cash with you?

We will also have local creative writer Tre' Ventour sharing some of his poetry with us during the evening. This includes a poem about Sir Walter Tull. Tre' has performed at various local events in the past including The Umbrella Fair, #OneDayWithoutUs and various open mic evenings dedicated to poetry/spoken words. You can follow Tre' Twitter account @SerPounce1995 to keep up to date with his creative righting and performances. He also has a few blogs, the details are shared on his Twitter page.

We look forward to your continued support and presence at this upcoming event.

Kind regards

Siobhan Tatum
